CC Palethe

Patrick Bardyn

Patrick Bardyn, urban photographer and teacher from Oudenaken, presents you his series Inside Out at CC Palethe. Here he explores the interaction between inside and outside, light and darkness.

“What interests me the most about photography is capturing the magical moment in just a fraction of a second, in which people, buildings, streets, squares, light, shadow, shape and movement suddenly become a fascinating total package because of a series of circumstances. This awakens emotions that at first are captured in the visual memory through the lens, but from which a personal image is made that can be shared with others.

In everyday street life, unknown people unconsciously become an intriguing spectacle. The subjective choice lies at the source of a personal view at society. The magic of the fleeting moment will never return to reality, but the visual language will forever translate the joyful feelings that have been produced by the occurrence. That’s the wonder of photography.  The way in which the image is created has little significance to me. All techniques and materials used only serve the purpose of conserving the joyful emotion of a privileged moment that has been captured for eternity.”

Patrick Bardyn has exhibited his work in numerous galleries and museums. In 2009 and 2010 he won the Bronze Lens at the Photography Festival in Knokke.

Photographic art cooperative f-8

f-8 is a group of photographers that are united in art photography. Steven Colin  (Schiplaken) - Bert Daenen  (Tongeren) - Kristel Nijskens (Boom) - Caroline Tanghe (Vichte)  - Geert Vanden Broeck (Denderleeuw) - Patrick Verbessem (Lier).

Every member is a professional photographer who creates personal work besides the commissions he or she receives. The result is a f-8 portfolio with a wide variety of work. They range from abstract to concrete, from colourful to monotone, from New York to Mechelen. In the overview, the spectator discovers different styles and techniques.

The artwork is exhibited at very diverse locations and moments.
A quick glance at the exhibitions:

·       2015 the Nylon factory Sint-Niklaas (retrospective)

·       2015 - 2016 Brussels Airlines business lounges  (Rotating exhibition between the 3 lounges)

·       2016 the old fish market Ghent

·       2016 until now Interior Cabinet Mechelen

·       2016 until now DomoXim Sterrebeek en Boortmeerbeek

·       2016 - 2017 Creativity @ Work Grimbergen

For the photography festival ‘lens op de mens’ the f-8 members worked with the theme ‘humans’.
The result you will get to see is a diverse approach to portray humankind.

Guy Schotte

Guy Schotte originates from the region of Antwerp, but love led him to Braine-le Comte at the age of 25. Ever since childhood he has been fascinated by photography but chose an education in Pharmacy, in which he would be active for 25 years. In 2010 he decided to turn his passion into his profession.

His interest in underwater photography started 20 years ago when he went to dive in the warmer oceans. He is still mesmerized by the natural reflection of light on the surface of the water. In his poetical work he combines the reflection of light with colour and the beauty of a female model.

The search for new techniques never stops. In 2016 he acquired the QEP-label, which is a European recognition for the quality of his underwater photography.
