Overpelt is a rural town that is part of the city of Pelt, centrally positioned in North Limburg between Hechtel-Eksel, Lommel, Peer and Neerpelt.

Five residential zones: Overpelt-Centrum, Lindel-Hoeven, Haspershoven, Holheide, Overpelt-Fabriek

The important industrial area Nolim which employs more than 6,000 people in 200 companies.

Large educational choice: primary schools and three secondary schools can educate 4,000 pupils.

Care institutions: hospital, 50+ care, child care, Sint-Oda, MS- and rehabilitation centre provide more than 2,000 jobs.

A lot of green: valleys, nature reserves, Park der Lage Kempen, Bosland, all in all 600 hectares of forest.
Overpelt is actually the biggest growing town in Limburg and even in Flanders.

People have always been important to the town. That’s how the charity VWZ Stijn and the rehabilitation and MS-Centre were created. These institutions are well-known across the country. In addition a new hospital Mariaziekenhuis Noord-Limburg was opened in 2004 and currently has 360 beds as well as the most modern equipment available.

The cooperation between Lommel and Hechtel-Eksel created the start of Bosland, the biggest child-friendly forest in Flanders.

Sport is also important in Overpelt. Cycling,mountain biking, running, playing tennis or football … you can choose whether to do this indoor or outdoor.

The swimming pool zwembad Dommelslag was built in cooperation with the neighbouring town Neerpelt. Both sporty and recreational swimmers are welcome.
